Beginning of the Month and relearning to use Trello.

Image
This month started in a positive way. The Pet Hub team blew me away with how eager everyone was when we were talking about what we could contribute for our Trello board this week. Ultimately, it took about two hours of us conversing and then we divided the work out amongst each other. This is where I come in, I chose to tackle the Pet Adoption Form entry. This will be my first time working with React. I was told that there are many videos available and to go do a little research and expect to add some HTML and CSS coding along with it. After doing some research I decided to try out some of the code i had written. I was unable to get visual studio code to start the debugging process. Luckily, everyone was online, and we couldn't get it to work right away but, we got the debugger to display our webpage on a local port within the next day.    Now i can start coding and see what the results should look like. Until then, I have spent the meantime creating our GitHub Readme fi...

Re-Visiting Usage Cases and Agile Software Development Cycle / Resume and Job Presentations

Image
This past week was our last week for Project and Portfolio Five. I am just going to take a moment to mention my experience this month. I will start with my presentation pitch from earlier this month. I had an idea for making a faxing application. But now that we have our chosen Web Application started, I can agree that my Faxing application idea would've been a bit too easy for what is expected for us. Anyway, our team is blowing me away with the quality of work presented. I can honestly say that I am impressed with my team and the work they put into our tasks this month. Trello serves as a status medium for our project. A medium that allows us to keep updates between each other's work and a good way to track the progress of existing jobs and figure out what should be completed next. With my contributions, I found more work than expected when usage cases needed to be compiled. I found myself looking up online articles and found myself following a template and modeled my scenar...

Usage Cases

Image
Today was our day to meet with our instructor. We got an update on what we should be doing and how we should conduct business when choosing our work. This will avoid things being done that may have already been taken care of and will avoid work done that might not be used and would be scrapped instead. We will use Trello and we are assigned specific tasks. I was assigned to complete the SDD and add usage cases. I looked online and found a few examples and I didn't realize that it was more work than i expected. On the upside, the definitions portion of the SDD provide some great examples of what i can use for our usage cases. Tomorrow evening is when I can write each one of these out and have them added to the SDD. I have included links to the sites i would reference inside the Trello card. They are also posted below, just for good measure. What is a Use Case? (techtarget.com) Use Cases | Usability.gov Git hub link will be created soon, and we can start our next week with coding fo...

Meeting

Image
We had meeting with Rebecca Carrol. We discussed our SDD document. I had to clarify with the team that, we not working on an android app, but the Pet Hub app is a web application. I am now clearer on our vision and will be looking forward to contributing back-end development and feel like we can actually do this!

WireFraming

Image
This week, we are working on getting a website started. Wireframing is a prototype process that allows teams to collaborate between ideas about how the final product works and would look to end users. Here is an example of the explanation - Wireframing in UI/UX Design. Wireframing in UI/UX Design is one of… | by Designerrs Academy | DETAUX (Designers Talk UX) | Medium So far, we have this as a reference to begin working from, I'm excited to figure this out.

Getting through week One

Image
This week has been a roller coaster for me. but overall, I had a positive experience, and I can say i have learned to humble myself in situations that get tough. Today, we have completed our SDD assignment, and we also completed our Style sheet for our project. We chose a name for our app, and I think it has a nice catchy ring to it. We had a few examples of a logo and finally settled on a dog bone with a cat paw. The name, Pet Hub with the two pet related icons shows users what they can expect from our app. I am excited for the future of this app. Here are a few images related to some of our work...

Personal Introduction

Image
Author - Glen Scallion I am excited to work with my team and get an application started. I am an inspiring tech startup manager and I want to make other people's lives easier. This will be done with hard work on my end and diligence from my zeal and vigor. I am more adept in the ui/ux (user interface and user experience) development of my projects. I like when an experience is coined by the user's interaction with a product. I have no formal professional background in dealing with technology directly, but That is what motivated me to create a tech start up. I want to make this experience a good one. Thank you.
